Mr. Clean jokes, anyone?

The economic climate is shitty. People talk about it everyday...on TV, the radio, in the goddamn gym locker room. No, really can we all shaddap? But the upside of this shitty time is that its forcing artists to be more creative and to work outside of what they're used to. That being said one of my favorite photographers (Seth Kushner) has directed his second music video, for Q*Ball. A bald white guy with an earring who somehow has a non-threatening look about him {atleast to this particular minority.} This video and song make me feel all U-two-y circa 1995. OH look there's a guy wearing a MR. Bungle shirt! While artists are reinventing themselves, I'm drawing alphabets on Wholefoods shopping bags. Well, go figure!

Jain Fonda this!

I've been taking a uber fun dance class called Masala Bhangra for years...its not difficult since the moves are fairly simple but its difficult because you take no breaks and its a serious cardio workout. I leave the class sweating buckets! This is a class created and coined by Sarina Jain. She is awesome! SO AWESOME. She's been doing it for 10 years and now the hype is on since Slumdog Millionaire won so many academy awards. Well, in '07 NY1 came and taped the class that I took. Check out the video and the article here.

And just the other day, the week after the Grammy's a whole crapload of media rushed Sarina. The Daily News published an article and here's the video:

One for Brooklyn, but not for Chicago.

Here's one for Brooklyn...Each month, Caught in the Act profiles a cross-section of key Brooklyn professionals in fine art, dance, music, theatre. Check out a piece with Seth Kushner.

Wouldn't you feel bad if you didn't win when the president came to watch your game? Shame on you, Chicago Bulls!

...And a great rap battle.

Was it really that cold this weekend?

It was and nonetheless, I went to see the BIGGIE movie anyways. I endured the crowds of young people talking through the movie, packed movie theater...oh yes...and the contact high -which quite frankly, gave me a damn headache. And all in all to tell you the truth I think this movie was BET worthy. Had it debuted on BET, I would have been a satisfied customer and thought it was a great production for a made for TV/BET movie. Although I wouldn't call myself an unsatisfied customer, only because the trailer doesn't exactly show the movie will be poignant or amazing, it really wasn't as great as it should have been. Considering the people backing the movie and all, it was disappointing.

BUT to make the cold movie weekend worth it...I caught the UNBORN which was good, scary and creepy. GO SEE IT! You know a scary movie is good when you go see it at 34th street on a Saturday night full of kids and they don't crack on all the scary parts, or talk through it and actually scream, get scared and even clap at the end of the flick.

And to hibernate on the last day of the weekend with a GREAT movie...Ip Man with Donnie Yen, the adapted story of one of the GREATEST Kung Fu master's in history. Don't watch this with your parents if you're Chinese or another ethnicity that was invaded by the Japanese though...it brings back bad sentiments... :X

And finally, friends and lovers, a Maya Azucena video directed by my friend, Seth Kushner.
